Why is STD Testing Important If You’re Considering Getting an Abortion?
If you think you may be pregnant, it is important that you determine whether or not you have an active Sexually Transmitted Disease or Infection (STD or STI) so you can be treated and the infection doesn’t spread.
Having an untreated STD, can cause PID (Pelvic Inflammatory Disease), leading to a lifetime of reproductive health problems.
STD and Abortion
If you are considering abortion, it is even more critical that you find out if you have an STD. During some abortion procedures, the cervix is dilated and, if there is an active infection, the infection can be introduced into your cervix.
You owe it to yourself to be checked. These infections are contagious and can be without symptoms for many women, so testing is very important.
