While missing a period may indicate a possible pregnancy, it is not a guarantee. At-home pregnancy tests may show a positive result even if you are not pregnant. At Rockville Women’s Center, we offer medical-grade pregnancy testing to determine whether you are pregnant.
One week after you missed your period is the ideal time to take a pregnancy test. Waiting gives your body enough time to produce a detectable amount of the pregnancy hormone called hCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin). If you take a pregnancy test before you miss a period, the test might not be able to detect hCG and give you a false negative result.
All of the services we offer at Rockville Women’s Center are confidential and provided at no cost.
